Major Lazer – “Lean On” [Remixes]

You can always count on Major Lazer to come through with at least a couple of incredible summery, sun-kissed singles on every album.

On their first album, “Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do“, it was “Keep It Goin’ Louder” and “Can’t Stop Now” (you could also make a strong argument for “Pon De Floor” and you wouldn’t be wrong).

2013’s “Free The Universe gave us the undeniable “Get Free” with Amber Coffman of the Dirty Projectors and “Jessica” featuring Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig.

With a new album called “Peace Is The Mission” set to drop next month, Major Lazer have already dropped a new heater for 2015 — “Lean On” featuring Danish pop singer .

Lean On” is one of my favorite tracks of the year and one of my most played tracks since March.

This week, Major Lazer made 6 new remixes of “Lean On” available as free downloads on their Soundcloud page.

My favorite of the lot is CRNKN‘s rework, which leans closest to the vibe of the original.

Duke Dumont – “Need U (100%)” (James Laurence Bootleg)

Duke Dumont’s “Need U (100%)” is one of those tracks that feels familiar, even if it’s your first time hearing it.

There’s something about the vocals by A*M*E that give the track a timeless feel.

Sydney-based producer, James Laurence throws A*M*E’s vocals into a Delorean on his edit and resets the timer for 1982 and a new boogie funk sheen on his new edit.

The track started as a bootleg, but wound up winning the approval of Duke Dumont himself.

If you’re interested, you can find the original sample source for James Laurence’ bootleg version here.

**BONUS** The Drums – “Kiss Me Again” (RAC Mix)

Kiss Me Again” was my favorite track from last year’s “Encyclopedia” album by The Drums and, on the remix, RAC sprinkles a little of his patented magic remix dust on the original without losing any of what made the original so great.

****DOUBLE BONUS**** Stromae – “Ave Cesaria” (Major Lazer Remix)

I didn’t really know much about Belgian pop star Stromae going into Coachella, but after his performance on Sunday afternoon at the festival, he was all I could talk about and I’m *still* buzzing over how good it was.

Ave Cesaria” is Stromae‘s homage to Cape Verdean singer, Cesaria Evora. This week, we got a new moombahton remix of the track by Major Lazer.

I prefer the original to the remix, to be honest, but I’m all for whatever gets Stromae exposed to more people.
