Friday Free For All: MEGA POST!

Written by

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Friday Free For All post, so I thought I’d clear the decks and blow it out with a giant MEGAPOST!

Here’s (almost) everything you need to be caught up:

Hanni El Khatib x Freddie Gibbs – “Satin Black”

Hanni El Khatib and Freddie Gibbs teamed up for an killer new single that’s been getting a lot of love on my show lately, called “Satin Black“.

I am loving the heavy Judgement Night / Blackroc vibes on this one, which leads to the question: can we get a full HEK x Freddie full length?!?

Aphex Twin – “Diskhat ALL Prepared1mixed [snr2mix]”

It took 13 years, but we finally got a new album from Aphex Twin last September.

Last week, Mr. D. James surprised everyone by dropping an EP called Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt. 2 (in true AFX fashion, there is no part 1).

Ahead of the EP’s release we got a free download of the track “Diskhat ALL Prepared1mixed [snr2mix]

Diskhat ALL Prepared1mixed [snr2mix]” is a non-album cut (not to be confused with “diskhat ALL prepared1mixed 13” which is on the EP) only available via Soundcloud, but it’s definitely keeping in spirit with the rest of the “Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt. 2″ EP.

And in case you missed it, the big news this week is that there is a recently uploaded cache of over 100 demos and unfinished tracks purported to be by Aphex Twin that were uploaded by user48736353001 on Soundcloud.

It’s hard to say with 100% certainty that it’s definitely the work of Aphex Twin, but all signs point to the account being legit.

Take a listen and judge for yourself.

Jeff Bridges – “Jeff Bridges Sleeping Tapes”

Do you ever have those fantasies where you’re a billionaire and you think of all the crazy ways you’d try to blow your money before you die?

Is having Jeff Bridges reading to you every night as you fall asleep one of them? If so, GOOD NEWS — you don’t need a billion dollars to make that happen!

The Dude got together with film/TV composer Keefus Ciancia, for the “Jeff Bridges Sleeping Tapes to help aid in your quest for some shut eye.

It’s a spoken word album that’s equal parts Ken Nordine and  ambient/drone-mode Brian Eno.

BADBADNOTGOOD – “Since You Asked Kindly (J.Rocc Remix)”

J.Rocc of the World Famous Beat Junkies released a really cool leftfield remix of “Since You Asked Kindly” from BBNG’s “III” album.

The remix morphs from a Dilla-style electro hip hop beat into a house track. Just listen:

And look out for BADBADNOTGOOD‘s “Stone Sour album with Ghostface Killah coming out on February 24th!

I CAN’T WAIT!!! Check out the first single.

Seven Davis Jr. – “Get Serious”

With a new album set for release later this year, it’s inevitable that you’ll be hearing the name Seven Davis Jr. a lot in 2015.

He’s already created a ton of buzz with last year’s “Friends” EP and 2013’s “One” EP.

In preparation for his ascendancy, Seven Davis Jr. launched his new website a few weeks ago and gave away an excellent new track called “Get Serious“.

Salva – $$$ SECRET STASH $$$

LA-bas(s)ed producer Salva came through big this week dropping a 10 song zip file of club ready, bass heavy edits of tracks by Rae Sremmurd, Drake, Bobby Shmurda and more.

Trust me, you need this.

Download all of Salva’s stash over at Audiomack.

Death Grips – Fashion Week (Instrumentals)

I can’t say I’ve ever really been a fan of Death Grips, but I do really like their new Fashion Week (Instrumentals) album.

Sans the vocals, Death Grips make a little more sense to me, I guess.

Download the full album at Death Grips’ website.

DFA Holiday Remix EP

The folks over at DFA Records capped off a stellar 2014 by giving away an excellent 4 track EP over the holidays.

We’ve covered the Daniel T. & Cooper Saver‘s stellar remix of Museum Of Love before,  but you’ll also get a new remix of Sinkane by Ed Banger label head and former Daft Punk manager, Busy P *and* a new remix of The Juan Maclean by Magic Touch. Score!
