KCRW Presents: Rocktober 2019

Written by

Are you ready to rock? And soft rock? And all other manners of rock? We are! The month is full of opportunities to rock out in the pit or bob your head in the back to great live music.

Psych-rock band, Crumb, is coming to the EL Rey Theater on Wednesday, October 9th. The Brooklyn-based band will be playing tracks from their latest release, Jinx. A lot of the tracks on the record were inspired by and written while touring the last two years. Divino Niňo and Shormey will open the show.

Pop sensation, Clairo, is making a stop on her Immunity tour at the Wiltern on Tuesday, October 15. Clairo’s rise to fame started with YouTube, where she’d upload home-recordings of her bedroom pop tracks like “Pretty Girl” and “Flaming Hot Cheetos.” With relatable lyrics and sing-song melodies, her debut album, Immunity, became a quick favorite amongst KCRW DJs at the station. Grab your tickets while you still can!

J.S. Ondara is making his way back to LA and playing a sold out show at the Troubadour on Friday, October 18th. Ondara grew up in Kenya, where he listened to American alt-rock and began songwriting. He moved to the states at the age of 20 and 6 years later, released his debut album, Tales of America. If you cant make the show, check out this highlight from his recent MBE live session.

And, this just in for your planning purposes! Metronomy is going on a North American tour to support their new album, Metronomy Forever. You can catch them in LA at the Fonda on Saturday, February 22 or make a trip out to Joshua Tree to see them at the very special Pappy & Harriet’s on Sunday, February 23.
