KCRW Top 20 (10/7 - 10/13)

We're deep into Rocktober here at KCRW and the live sessions keep coming. This week we bring you Devendra Banhart, Kate Tempest and Yola and next week Glen Hansard .

On this week’s Top 20, we love Robert Glasper who has been mixing jazz with hip hop – since long before it was fashionable. In a similar vein, Aussie collective 30/70 has future jazz and soul on lockdown too.

Easily making my Top 10 for the year will be LA band, Automatic. Their take on post-punk is original and inventive. Not only does it make me want to pull out Joy Division and ESG. There’s even a Delta 5 cover.

Montreal-based artist Little Scream addresses some serious subjects on her album due out October 25, but on “Still Life” she meditates on the Manet painting Un bar aux Folies Bergère, and says, "I finished writing the song with the unrequited longing that painting has always inspired in me."

Listen to the updated KCRW Top 20 playlist below and we'll check in again next week.
