KT Tunstall on KCRW

Written by

When I heard KT Tunstall would be performing solo on Morning Becomes Eclectic today, I pictured her sitting in a chair singing slow songs. I could not have been more wrong. Thanks to what she calls her “Taiwanese orchestra” – a bunch of loops and pedals – she channeled an entire band with percussion, back up singers and all! As Jason and I both remarked, she is the real deal.

She told us that her latest album “Tiger Suit” was inspired by a dream and that she finally embraced her love of electronica, even though it was a slightly risky move. I loved her stories behind the songs, especially for “Madame Trudeaux.”  (she said “(Still A) Weirdo” is definitely autobiographical.)

Her rich and soulful voice sounded as fantastic as ever and this is definitely a set worth checking out in the archives.
