Fans of James Blake and the xx should take a liking to London-based singer/producer Kwes.
His version of bass-heavy yet sweet R&B is demonstrated best on the track “36”, which will be featured on his forthcoming full length debut, due on October 15. The fact that it will be out on Warp Records, home to Bibio, Boards of Canada, Flying Lotus, and Mount Kimbie gives you a good idea of what to expect.
Like Blake, Kwes is quite young – just 24 years old – and has already been sampled by Kanye West and worked with artists like Bobby Womack, Joe Goddard and Damon Albarn.
