Laura Mvula is one of those artists that I hear lots of KCRW DJs talking about right now.

During our recent pledge drive, Chris Douridas introduced a stunning song from her over the airwaves. As his co-host, I was in the room, and there was something in the air that you could feel. He was clearly enamored.

Then I heard the excellent track “Green Garden”. As Anthony Valadez says, there’s “something about handclaps and bells that tickle my soul.” Me too! And her gorgeous voice. Stream here and watch the video below.

Laura is a classically trained musician from Birmingham and her debut, “Sing to the Moon”, will be released in March 2013. She’s supporting another KCRW favorite, Jessie Ware, on a UK tour next month and stay tuned for any LA dates!

P.s. Travis Holcombe dropped this remix on his show last night, which is available as a free download here.
