Little Daylight: Artist You Should Know

Written by

Trio Little Daylight are on a roll.

Matt Lewkowicz and Eric Zeiler met each other as teenagers while stuck in detention at a school in New Jersey. The boys met Nikki Taylor though a friend years later and they instantly became friends and musical partners. Nikki was originally a keyboardist and singing is fairly new in her musical life.

They started doing remixes in 2012 before becoming a full band, working with artists like The Neighborhood, Ra Ra Riot, Temper Trap, Passion Pitt and Edward Sharpe. They reached out to a bunch of bands for permission to remix their work and most, if not all, were very receptive and their music career was born.

At this point they caught the ear of Capitol Records who signed them in 2013.

As they started to craft their own material, some of those same bands remixed THEIR songs, coming full circle.

In early 2013, their track “Overdose” started to make a waves on various music blogs and now we’re happy to premiere a track on the KCRW Music Blog called “Love Stories”.

Matt says the title of the song is a bit of a misnomer, because it’s really a song about fear in relationships, pointing to this line as an example: “I learned to prefer not to fall, so I never was ready to hear your call.”

Check out the track below.

“Love Stories” is from Little Daylight’s debut album “Hello Memory“, coming out on July 15th. Pre-order it here.

I got to see them recently at Troubadour and they were really engaged during the show. The crowd went bonkers and I had such a smile on my face.

See them live if you can!
