MBE welcomes Raury live in-studio this Thanksgiving week

Welcome to your weekly Morning Becomes Eclectic update, for news and performances over Nov. 23-27, 2015 on KCRW and KCRW.com.

MONDAY, November 23: Raury has been on our radar since the release of his debut EP. The song “God’s Whisper” made a big impression on a handful of our DJs and solidified the teenager (yep, that’s right) as an artist-to-watch.

With his full-length debut, the Atlanta musician lived up to all expectations, seamlessly melding hip-hop, rock, and folk with lyrics that address serious societal issues with compassion, positivity and a call for peace. We could use a bit more peace in the world today, so we’re happy to present a live session with Raury with host Aaron Byrd.

Fun Fact: Raury’s musical influences range from Bon Iver and Father John Misty to Kid Cudi and André 3000.

Tuesday, November 24: Rhythm Planet host Tom Schnabel’s visit to MBE this month will be a musical reflection of his love for France, with songs from Juliette Greco, Jacques Dutronc and more.

Thursday, November 26: KCRW DJ Gary Calamar Guest Hosts MBE.

Friday, November 27: KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez Guest Hosts MBE.

Jason Bentley is regular host of MBE, which runs 9 a.m. to noon PST, Monday through Friday. Tune in at KCRW and KCRW.com.
