Michael Kiwanuka: Artist You Should Know

Meet Michael Kiwanuka.

This 23-year-old musician from North London is about to release his first EP entitled “Tell Me a Tale”. The EP is amazing, though I’m disappointed its only three songs long! He is currently on the road opening for Adele on her European tour and the EP will be out June 13 on Communion Records. The song that first caught me ear is “Tell Me a Tale”.

Even though it is hard not to draw lots of comparisons (John Martyn, Bill Withers, Terry Callier, a bit of Marley, Fela in the horns …), when you listen to “Tell Me a Tale” or “I Need Your Company”, I am convinced that – like me – you will be able to hear Michael Kiwanuka.

He is a very gifted young man and I hope he is a prolific artist as well. I am already ready to hear more …and I’m sure you will be hearing him on our airwaves.

It’s invigorating to discover an artist like this that clearly has a bright future ahead and is already making music that sounds timeless.
