Neko Case Live on KCRW – “Night Still Comes”

Written by

Kelly Hogan and Eric Bachmann (yes, that Eric Bachmann, of Crooked Fingers and Archers of Loaf) for a beautiful acoustic set.

Three voices, a guitar, and a piano is really all you need when THOSE are the three voices – and of course Neko’s songs.

You can’t overlook the fact that she is an incredible lyricist, though it’s easy to focus solely on her voice since it is really unlike any other.

It just cuts me open emotionally, but it hurts so good. “Night Still Comes” was a clear favorite.

The trio decided to try out a bunch of other new tracks from her forthcoming album (take a deep breath): “The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You”.

They interjected with stories, jokes and much more. It was a little bit like “Storytellers” – the early morning, just rolled out of bed version.

Neko declined video, but the session is absolutely worth a listen, including a spectacular version of an old favorite, “In California”. Find it here.
