Ptaki: Artist You Should Know

Written by

Polish DJ/production duo Ptaki (which means birds in Polish) flew into discerning listeners radars like a full on flock sometimes registers on an air traffic controllers screen awhile back with a ripping 7″ on the Very Polish Cut-Outs label a few years back. “Krystina” is a laid back groover that by edit standards stands out as a shimmering example of what a savvy editor can do with a tiny snippet of obscure of source material.

Local label Friends of Friends have courted the duo into fashioning their first 12″ of original material and the outcome is as stunning as “Krystina” if not more so.

Capitalizing on their ability to move you with exquisite downtempo aplomb, their “Kalina” 12″ is a mesmerizing set of tracks that are ready for the floor for that moment when it’s time to turn down and get heady.

Skala” is a bold pitch perfect example of what Ptaki does really well.

A sonic swirl of smoke, the track draws you in and eventually envelops you until you are in it and find yourself floating in it.

Who doesn’t want to fly?

Ptaki’s Kalina’ vinyl 12″ dropped last month via Young Adults, with a digital release following closely behind.
