With its heavy thumping bass and deep groove, my ears immediately perked up when Jason Bentley spun the song “Static” this morning.

But even better was the story about how he got the track. He said USC student Justin Jay handed to him after his set in the “desert discotheque” known as the Yuma tent at Coachella last weekend.

The 19-year-old producer out of LA has a lot of buzz right now, with Dirtybird releasing what Claude Von Stroke is calling his “breakout record”. From Von Stroke:

“The A-side “Static” is at 119 BPM and will sweep you up then rip your pants off. But even when you get hit with the massive bassline, an old school anchor stays intact. “Waves” B-side has a classic deep dirtybird feeling, with tuned 808’s and a surprising melodic element showing off the sweeter side of this up and coming young gun. Justin Jay has more potential than anyone I’ve heard in a while and if he continues to play like he has been lately, he has a long DJ career ahead of him as well.”

Hopefully we’ll get more than just a preview soon! Find it now on Beatport.
