I spotted Jenny Lewis as the Hotel Café earlier this week watching Mynabirds and I was thinking of all the great music she has put out in the world, from Rilo Kiley to her solo work (“Rabbit Fur Coat” is one of the most played albums on my iTunes) to her most recent – a project with her collaborator in life, love and music – Jonathan Rice. They are going by Jenny and Johnny and their first single, “Scissor Runner,” is the pure melodic pop bliss you would hope from those two LA-based musicians.

Jenny and Johnny – Scissor Runner

I’m a sucker for power pop and exuberant love songs so this fits the bill nicely, though they warn the rest of the album explores darker terrain. The forthcoming album is “I’m Having Fun Now” and they’ve already planned a short tour kicking off in September.

If you like “Scissor Runner,” you can download it in exchange for your email address here.
