When I walked into the studio to ask Jason Bentley what he liked about Tallest Man on Earth’s new single “1904” his immediate answer was: “it makes me feel good”.

Stream “1904”:

We then got into a discussion about where he was from. Morning Becomes Eclectic volunteer Will Bentley guessed Australia, I guessed some Scandinavian country and Jason said “Bob Dylan-Land”.

Yes, Tallest Man on Earth, the moniker of Swedish (I was right!) singer Kristian Matsson is very Bob Dylan-eque. He’s got a gravelly voice and weighty folk songs that capture your attention.

He visited our studios in 2010 but I actually became a huge fan after watching a video of him performing live at the Pitchfork Music Festival. It was just stunning.

We’ll get a chance to see him live here in LA on June 12 at the Wiltern, the day of his album release. The CD is called “There’s No Leaving Now” and it will be out on Dead Oceans.
