The 1975: Artist You Should Know

If you need a sugary does of pop, look no further than The 1975’s “Chocolate”.  Some vocalists hide their accents when they sing but Manchester’s Matthew Healy, who wears it proudly. In fact, it’s part of what makes this song so great. (especially the way he says “petticoat”, so very English)

Also, I read somewhere that filmmaker John Hughes was a big influence on Healy and somehow that makes perfect sense with this bouncy track.

The band has two EPs under their belt with their latest, “Music for Cars”, out today.  Their music is definitely bold (check out previous single “Sex”) and something tells me this band is destined for success. They are on my hot list for SXSW and I can’t wait to check them out live.
