The Heavy on MBE, at the Hammer THIS Thursday

The Heavy nice shoes copy

UK’s The Heavy have had an incredible year. Their sophomore album, “The House that Dirt Built,” came out at the end of 2009 and their track, “How You Like Me Now?” was used expertly in a Kia commercial that aired during the Super Bowl in January. It was one of those rare times where I enjoyed seeing a song I like used in a commercial, because it was so clever! (and I should mention that I just found out 5 minutes ago that our own DJ Nic Harcourt was responsible for introducing Kia to that track!)

The band puts on an incredible show of fiery rock ,tinged with funk and blues. They gave us all they had in a live performance on MBE, including a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Harlem Shuffle.

You can check out the session in the archives and see them live for FREE this Thursday at the Hammer Museum as part of the Also I Like to Rock series, presented by KCRW. They will be joined by locals Fitz and the Tantrums.
