Ultraista: Artist You Should Know

Given it’s notable “production” pedigree, Ultraista has an unexpected, but remarkably pleasant and familiar atmospheric quality that’s cut from the cloth of mid-90s chillout trip-hop that gave us artists like Olive and Lamb.

Given it’s notable “production” pedigree, Ultraistahas an unexpected, but remarkably pleasant and familiar atmospheric quality that’s cut from the cloth of mid-90s chillout trip-hop that gave us artists like Olive and Lamb.

Composed of famed Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, one of the industry’s best stickmen Joey Waronker and vocalist Laura Bettinson, Ultraistais a lush exercise in retro romanticism.

The group debuted their project at the Echoplex a few weeks back and have a full length self-titled release available now. Below, you’ll find a stream of album highlight called “Smalltalk” that clicks and whirs in all the right places.

(Jason Bentley is partial to the track “Bad Insect“, which you can hear right here.)
