All of our DJs receive hundreds of CDs a month to consider for airplay. In this regular feature, KCRW DJ Chuck P catalogues his musical bounty from the Post Office each week.
What a glorious day. Not only is the weather perfect (for me, anyway) but the new releases are starting to fly in. A meaty stack of goodness today. Here are a few…
1) Social Distortion – “Hard Times & Nursery Rhymes” .. It’s been a while since there’s been new Social D in my inbox. I’m expecting a mellower sound. Should be interesting.
2) Dolorean – “The Unfazed” .. No, not Delorean, this is Dolorean. Confusing, I know. Mellow country-ish sounds. Might be a grower.
3) Swim Party “There Is Too Much Wood In My Coffin” .. Glue a piece of wood to your CD, and it will probably be the first one I listen to. Great handmade packaging, numbered edition of 300 (I’ve got #73), and great tunes to boot. Played these guys back in November but now I finally have my very own copy. It’s the little things.
Honorable mentions include a new cd from The Glass and Miami pop princess Madison. Sugary sweet, I expect.
Talk to you tonight at 12a.
Best,
