All of our DJs receive hundreds of CDs a month to consider for airplay. In this regular feature, KCRW DJ Chuck Pcatalogues his musical bounty from the Post Office each week.

Here ya go…

SXSW gave us a week off from the Post Office Post last week, but that doesn’t mean the mail wasn’t coming in… on the contrary, seems like I got more goodness than usual, including…

1) Various LP’s from Krazy Punx, a new offshoot label of What’s Your Rupture? I’m loving the raw intensity of these releases. Like WYR? releases pushed even further in the red… hell, it’s so red it’s purple. Gonna play something from the Silver Shampoo release tonight, as well as the Hunters side of that split 7″ you see there. Me likey.

2) A “catch me up” package from the now legendary Light In The Attic record label. Top notch reissues from some of the coolest of the cool/unheard of since their time artists. The packaging alone makes these records worth owning, with deluxxxe vinyl versions as well. 3 x’s in deluxxxe because they’re just that good.

3) Couple of beat-oriented CDs, one from used-to-be-local electro artists, Rainbow Arabia, and another from Austin’s funkadelica masters, The Echocentrics. Two very different releases from two excellent bands.

Honorable mentions include just about every other damned release I received over the past week. Unkle (with Nick Cave), Make Out, Marcellus Hall (from Railroad Jerk), J. Mascis, Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Sarandon, Curious Mystery… oh my. You’ll hear most of this and more on my show tonight at 12a… as well as on most of the other wonderful KCRW shows.

Lord have mercy, I love this job.

Best,

Chuck P.
