What I Got at the Post Office Today by Chuck P

Written by

All of our DJs receive hundreds of CDs a month to consider for airplay. In this regular feature, KCRW DJ Chuck P catalogues his musical bounty from the Post Office each week.

Unreal weather. Last week 113, this week 66.  Talk about climate change!  Great haul at the PO Box today.

sound of club

1) The Sound Of Club Secousse Vol 1 – Looks like some traditional tracks from around Africa getting the remix treatment.  Bet this is gonna be a good’un…

antony

2) Antony & The Johnsons “Swanlights” – Always love hearing a new Antony album. He’s got a singular voice in indie rock, and he’s worth paying attention to.

we landed on the moon

3) We Landed On The Moon “This Will Be One For The Books” – The CD came with powdered Astronaut Ice Cream. I don’t know if I should try it.  I mean, freeze dried ice cream?  Doesn’t sound appetizing, and it wouldn’t be ice cream if it wasn’t cold.  I must investigate further… oh yeah, there’s a CD here…

Honorable mentions include the new Sufjan Stevens & a 70th anniversary John Lennon sampler for the Gimme Some Truth campaign, a massive 4xCD box set with remasters and outtakes.  I’ll have to visit Amoeba to get the whole thing, because I’m sure it will be worth it.

Talk tonight,

Chuck P.
