What I Got at the Post Office Today by Chuck P

Written by

All of our DJs receive hundreds of CDs a month to consider for airplay. In this regular feature, KCRW DJ Chuck P catalogues his musical bounty from the Post Office each week.

Meager bounty this week at the post office.  The best things I got were things I bought, but here’s some possible goodness…

fXf

1) Floored By Four “Chimera Music #4” – Virtual all star cast doing something (mostly) different than what they’ve done in the past.  Mike Watt, Nels Cline, Yuka Honda and Dougie Bowne. I am most excited to hear this… four tracks, most hovering at the ten minute mark.

Lefse

2) Package from Lefse Records that includes Dominant Legs, How To Dress Well & Houses. – Must have been an afterthought, since most of the stuff has been out for a while.  CDR copies in thin paper sleeves get lost so easily… and they’re hardly exciting to look at.  I’ve heard most of this already, so no big deal.

Circle Pit

3) Circle Pit “Bruise Constellation” – Okay, I’ve got to include one of the records I bought. So many people make noise about how great the Dead Weather are, but these guys are the real deal successors to the Royal Trux throne.  Out on Siltbreeze Records and scuzzier than anything else you’ll hear this year.

Worthy additions are the new (and last) Sun City Girls LP — “Funeral Mariachi, The Tallest Man On Earth EP, and the new CD from Spaniards, “DePedro.”

Oh, and if you’re looking for something to do this Friday night, stop by Dinner House M for Night Owl.  I’m DJing along with Buddyted and O Dub.

If you can’t wait until then, tune in tonight at 12a.

Best,

Chuck P.
