White Arrows: Local Band We Love

White Arrows have been busy.  Between crafting their catchy glam-infused indie rock jams, and securing a monthly residency at the Bootleg Theater, they’ve also found the time to do some rather nifty remixes for Local Natives and Alexander (the solo project from Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes).

In fact we have White Arrows’ remix of Alexander’s “Truth” hot of the presses, or er, laptop for you to stream right here.

Now back to their monthly residency at the Bootleg.  Seeing as it started last Monday, it should be hitting its stride right tonight when they take the stage.  They’ll be playing every Monday in May, so if you can’t make it tonight you still have a few chances to catch them.

Based on what I’ve heard, it will be a highly energetic performance fueled by lead singer Mickey Schiff’s ability to shift from dirty snarl to lovely falsetto before you have time to blink your eyes.  This is evidenced nicely, albeit in a somewhat more mellow way in the band’s cover of the Fleetwood Mac song “Save Me a Place.”  This will be the b-side to their forthcoming “Get Gone” 7″.

And if straight up dance parties are more your thing, White Arrows will be our special guest DJs this month at Interiors, my new disco night with Kisses, happening this this Thursday, May 12 at Mountain Bar.
