From KCRW’s Promotions Coordinater Mary Chellamy:

London trio White Lies returned to MBE this morning bringing their 80’s synth rock flavored sound with them. They made their MBE debut in August 2009 and Jason Bentley named it one of his favorite live performances of the year. They had made a huge splash at SXSW earlier that year and were touring behind “To Lose My Life.”

I must admit, I don’t know much about these guys, but I do know that this band has crafted a great record off that momentum. Vocalist (and guitarist) Harry McVeigh commented that if you compare this morning’s session to their last one, they would sound nothing alike. And that’s a good thing! The band has grown up and so has their music.

The guys also spoke about their growing fan base (hello Poland!), hanging with Kings of Leon and one of their favorite shows at London’s Brixton Academy. If you missed the live session, take a listen to both sessions and compare the two for yourself.

— Mary Chellamy

P.S White Lies play a sold out gig at the Troubadour tonight, hope you have your tickets!
