KCRW Broadcast 250

Fanatics! Tonight’s show is so good, I can barely stand it. We start off our show with some brand new Melvins. My favorite track on the record so far.

We get slightly conceptual early on with an entire chunk of music all from the outstanding re-issue label Superior Viaduct. Like I promised you last week, we are throwing a little spotlight on the label. Re-issuing Brigitte Fontaine?! Wow! Superior Viaduct is taking some great chances with releases like this. It’s what a label such as this should do—not always do the obvious or easy thing but do the good and the right thing. Get yourself some info on this label!: http://www.superiorviaduct.com/

We finish our first hour, rockin’ out in great style. When I was a young man, I bought the Live Bootleg album by Aerosmith. I don’t know how many people showed up for that one but I dug it. The track I liked best was the one we are playing tonight. Apparently, it was pulled from a WBCN FM simulcast done in April of 1973. The band is happening. They were my first arena band experience. It’s great hearing this track again.

In our second hour, we space out at the top. I think you’re going to dig this, Fanatic.

Hank Williams into 999, it must be the Big Three on KCRW! Eclectique, non?

I thought we should take it out on a high note, so we stomp on it all the way to the end and let Mr. Hendrix take us out as well as he started us out in this hour. We will jam as much of the Jimi track as we can until Mr. Wilcox comes in and takes control.

Let’s see . . . next week, I am predicting some Walter Wegmüller, Guru Guru, Neu!—yes, Fanatic, ‘tis the season. I am already working on the show, so I have time to make adjustments for new arrivals. We try to keep it happening on our end. You’re always worth it.

Keep your ears open and STAY FANATIC!!!
