KCRW Broadcast 87

Fanatics!

It’s an all K weekend. I will be doing two shows tonight. One at the station and then one more set at the Park Plaza Hotel as part of the KCRW Masquerade. I have been working on both sets for quite some time. The one for the Park Plaza set went through a lot of drafts and finally it was done. Engineer X and I put it all together at our MMM (mobile mini mosk.) Hopefully, we will be all together later on downtown. For those of you unable to make it, perhaps next year.

Now, tonight’s show, if you look below, has healthy portions of the very good and the very otherwise. As to making the show unlistenable with really bad music, I was momentarily tempted to take our show in that direction tonight but I like you way too much to subject you to too much of the awful music that I have here. I have gone to great lengths to acquire some of the worst bilge you have ever heard. Tonight, I have spared us all and not included the worst.

Two standout tracks from tonight’s insult to all KCRW listeners and FM radio in general are Todd Tappin’s We The People and RaVeN’s Sex Candy. Barforific! Crapadelic, even! I will give you the back story on these tracks tonight on the show.

Don Dokken was Jason Bentley’s stage name. Many of you don’t know that but now you do. One of his more memorable efforts is featured in tonight’s show. I have a great story about this song that will tell you tonight.

This is weekend when a lot of people will be celebrating. The roads might be a little chaotic, so please, be careful out there. I am looking forward to being with you live on the radio and then hitting it later, downtown live with all y’all at the K-Jam Masquerade Get Down. It’s going to be a great one. Dig the show and STAY FANATIC!!!
