Morning Becomes Eclectic is delighted to have
Kinky return for their second visit where they turned in a high energy musical celebration.
Kinky are: vocalist/guitarist Gilberto Cerezo, guitarist Carlos Chairez, keyboardist/programmer Ulises Lozano, bassist Cesar Pliego, and drummer Omar Gongora.
Kinky. There is a lot of love in
Kinky-s songs.
Kinky-s music is a wonderful frenzy of electronic, Latin, and danceable beats and they definitely can lay down a wicked groove. Utilizing guitars and creative programming they have managed to create a sound that is fresh and current while remaining true to their Latin roots that started in Monterrey, Mexico. While not exactly a Rock en Espa-ol band, they are more like a Groove in Espa-ol band.
Kinky is an innovative and entertaining band making engaging music while igniting the dance floor at the same time.
Kinky shortly thereafter caught the ear of producer
Chris Allison (
The Beta Band, Coldplay) who heard an early demo of
San Antonio. He encouraged them to keep sending him material and later signed them to his London-based label, Sonic 360. Later on, their early demos were being played here at
KCRW. In 2003,
Kinky is now a Grammy nominated band. They received a Grammy nomination for their self-titled debut album in the Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album category.
Kinky-s reputation for being amazing live performers is well-earned and continues to spread. Recently,
Kinky supported
Shakira during a tour of Europe and they were part of the
Unlimited Sunshine Tour last year that included artists such as
Cake and
The Flaming Lips.
Kinky and you can dance to
Kinky. Can a band be more perfect?
