LA’s very own J Rocc, who's been a seminal force in the rise of instrumental hip-hop, blends his signature collage-like sounds and samples all over his latest album “A Wonderful Letter,” which drops today on Stones Throw Records. It’s his letter to Los Angeles and his dedication to a lifetime of LA music scenes.

Another testament to this city’s art scene is a community-based choir called The Voices of Creation. Founded by mainstay LA artist Jimetta Rose, and featuring KCRW’s very own Novena Carmel, the choir brings together voices of professional and non-professional singers alike to create sounds that heal. We warm up for the holiday weekend with their first single “Let The Sunshine In” and look forward to their album coming out August 12.

Plus, we’ve got five pairs of tickets for you to catch French psych-punks La Femme at The Belasco next Friday, June 24. Enter for your chance to win!
