Five-time Emmy-winner and first-time Oscar-nominee Laura Karpman joins Novena to break down her storied career as a composer for film and television, her massively eventful 2023 (in addition to being Oscar-nominated for her score to American Fiction she also composed The Marvels’ soundscape), and to regale us with tales of her magical Beverly Hills childhood. This includes several selects from Karpman’s own deep bench, complete with a world premiere of the vocal version of “Monk Suite” from American Fiction (featuring the vocals of the score’s flutist Elena Pinderhughes).
