Hosted by and

We’re getting our fingers dirty in the record bins, taking it back to 1979 to delve into an exercise in pop absurdism. Hear “Her Story,” serving up the New Wave sounds of The Flying Lizards.

Continuing on the ‘70s tip, self-dubbed “Compton house” creator Channel Tres is right up there with the best of them, sampling Teddy Pendergrass’ 1977 cut “The More I Get, The More I Want” while matching this summer heat wave on “Just Can’t Get Enough.” His new single comes with the announcement of his debut LP “Real Cultural Shit” this fall, plus his first-ever North American headlining tour

Korean American alt-pop artist Michelle Zauner, a.k.a. Japanese Breakfast, bands together with fellow Korean artists So!YoON and Yaeji on a special version of her 2021 hit “Be Sweet,” translated into Korean. The track comes in advance of their upcoming performance in Seoul. If you can’t make it, Japanese Breakfast will be playing a little closer to home on Oct. 6 at the Hollywood Bowl with the Yeahs Yeah Yeahs and the Linda Lindas. Get your tix tix tix while you still can.
