Aussie-native electro-poppers Parcels stop by to share some tunes you can take to the vault ahead their third(!) desert trek to play Coachella.
Apr 10, 2025

Australia-bred, Berlin-based electro-pop five piece Parcels craft laidback, daytime disco grooves that’ll sound just right on your Poolside playlist. But let’s be real, they’re probably already on there. They were discovered in 2016 by Daft Punk — as legend goes both members happened to be in attendance at one of the band’s shows in Paris. They’ve since gone on to rack up over a billion streams and 600,000 album/EP sales. This Friday will mark the band’s third(!) year of playing Coachella. But before they make that desert trek (and prepare for a whirlwind festival schedule that will also include stops at Primavera Sound and Glastonbury) band members Patrick Hetherington (keyboard/guitar) and Jules Crommelin (guitar) are here to chat about their particular magic formula for making music. Plus, in honor of their latest single “Safeandsound,” — “laidback, loopy, and cozy; the sonic equivalent of a Sunday drive to nowhere with a small group of your favorite people in the whole wide world” — we asked them to select 5 sounds that are so special, they deserve to be protected in a safe.

P.S. If you can’t swing the full fest, but still want to see Parcels live in SoCal — catch ‘em at the Fox Theater Pomona on Wednesday, April 16.

Parcels’ KCRW Guest Selects:

“All Apologies” – Sinéad O’Connor

“I Won’t Back Down” – Tom Petty

“Holy Wars… The Punishment Due” – Megadeth

“We Know You Know (Feat. John Mclaughlin)” – Mahavishnu Orchestra

“Nightswimming” – R.E.M.

“Paper-Thin Hotel” – Leonard Cohen
