Sasami Ashworth, who you know as SASAMI, is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, performer, and composer who has explored a multitude of sounds and concepts over three solo studio albums and global tours. And you likely recall her origins playing synths during the early days of Cherry Glazerr — a project that we are very fond of around these parts.

SASAMI is also a co-curator of GYOPO Diasporic Refractions: Symposium where she’s part of a cohort drawing upon their chosen crafts and Korean heritage to examine, deconstruct, and alter systems of oppression. To reinvent, survive, and resist has been an intrinsic part of the Korean experience. Artist presentations and a round table discussion will engage different perspectives on being part of the Korean diaspora—of sitting on the fault-line of eastern and western history and consciousness while deeply entrenched in the rituals, principles, and histories of violence in both the eastern and western worlds. It’s happening TOMORROW (Saturday, June 7) at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Find out more and RSVP (for FREE) here.
