China beckons. Will Hollywood heed the call?

Hosted by , ,  •

Wang Jianlin, by some accounts the richest man in China, visited Los Angeles earlier this week in an attempt to woo Hollywood studios and convince them to move productions to his company's "movie metropolis" in Qingdao. Wanda's 40% production rebate would be among the highest in the world, but many filmmakers still have hesitations about filmmaking in China, where the government is very involved in the movie business. Two productions have already agreed to film there--the sequels to 'Pacific Rim' and 'Godzilla,' though they are Legendary films. Legendary was purchased by Wanda earlier this year.
