Dems Debate Recap, Badger Guns Case, and 'Beasts of No Nation'

It was Democrats helping Democrats in a mostly collegial debate last night. There was less name-calling and far fewer candidates on stage compared to the Republican debates. There were also fewer viewers, only 15 million compared to an average 24 million for the first two GOP debates.

Then, in Wisconsin six years ago, an 18-year-old was caught on video in a gun store pointing to the gun he wanted while someone else filled out the paperwork and paid for the gun. A month later, the 18-year-old shot two police officers. Last night, a jury found that the gun store is liable.

Next, the Oscar race is kicking into high gear with the release of Best Picture probables like The Martian, Steve Jobs and Spotlight. Add one more front-runner to the list: Beasts of No Nation, Cary Fukunaga’s voyage into the world of child soldiers.
