President Trump today says he misspoke at yesterday’s disastrous news conference with Vladimir Putin. He explained that he said “would” instead of “wouldn’t.” Why wouldn’t it be Russia who meddled in the election? That explanation stretches credulity, but it may be enough to satisfy republicans who’ve been critical. We talk with Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff about what Congress needs to do next.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats was speaking at a Hudson Institute conference in DC last week, and he said, "The warning signs are there. Today, the digital infrastructure that serves this country is literally under attack." So how is the system under attack, and what is the government doing to fight it?
On Monday, the Justice Department announced espionage charges against Maria Butina. She says she’s a Russian gun-rights advocate. Butina was arrested on Sunday in Washington. She’s accused of infiltrating an American political group at the direction of a senior Kremlin official. That political group isn’t named in the indictment, but it’s widely believed to be the NRA. This is a separate investigation from the one led by Robert Mueller.

About a month ago, a man was fatally shot in the head while camping at Malibu Creek State Park with his two daughters. The park has been closed since. Last week, sheriff’s deputies received two new reports of shots fired at the park near the campground where the man was killed. Overall, there have been seven reported incidents involving gunfire at Malibu Creek over the last two years.
