This past weekend there was a big car show along the north central coast of California: the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The show featured some 200 classic cars on display, along with racing and golf and hobnobbing with some heavy hitters.
Tod Mesirow was there. He’s a TV producer with credits including Monster Garage, Overhaulin’ and Car Lot Rescue, and is a car reviewer for About.com.
He went to the exclusive event at the Quail Lodge on Friday, with a ticket price of $400 a person. He also attended the races on Saturday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca where old cars race each other. The focal point event on Sunday at Pebble Beach, Mesirow said, was where the cars are displayed and judged on the 18th hole of one of the most expensive golf courses in the world.
He also attended auctions on Friday and Saturday night where cars went for millions and millions of dollars (and some bargains in the low six-figure range).
