Ballot measure to try to end Citizens United will likely pass, but will it do anything?

Prop. 59 calls on elected officials throughout the state to do everything in their power to change the US Constitution when it comes to campaign financing.

Bob Stern, a longtime expert on California’s ballot measure process, says this measure was prompted by the US Supreme Court’s landmark ruling several years ago in the Citizens United case. And he predicts that voters will probably approve Prop 59 by a landslide. But even if that’s the case, the measure may not have much of an impact.
