Day 1 at the DNC: Can Bernie get his supporters to unify against Trump?

Written by

The question of party unity is on everybody’s mind at the DNC as some Bernie Sanders supporters say they’ll refuse to vote for Hillary Clinton, and the DNC leadership gets shaken up. “I’m a Democrat through and through,” Ryan Lopez, a California delegate and Bernie Sanders supporter told To the Point,“As delegates it’s our responsibility to take our party back to the people.”

On Monday morning, at a breakfast for California Democrats, some Sanders supporters continually interrupted the speakers and told KCRW they might not vote for Clinton.

Monday evening, Sanders had his chance to address the audience inside the convention hall, giving strong support to Clinton. “Hillary Clinton will make an outstanding president, and I am proud to stand with her here tonight,” he said.
