LA Unified’s new school year will start again on August 18. All K-12 classes will be all virtual for the nearly 800,000 students. But there will be some structure laid out in the school day.

The Los Angeles Board of Education approved a plan where the school day will start at 9 a.m. and end at 2:15 p.m. Teachers are expected to work an average of six hours per day, and will decide how they’ll use that time for live online instruction, recorded sessions, and independent supervision. Additionally, there will be voluntary one-on-one tutoring for students virtually or in person.
