Homeless encampments line a sidewalk near LA City Hall in downtown, October 14, 2022. “People in the city and the county have essentially over these years worked to address and reduce the problem, but not with the fortitude of ‘this has got to end,’” Karen Bass says of the homelessness crisis. A new exhibit of 96-year-old artist Thaddeus Mosley’s abstract wooden sculptures is on view at Art + Practice. Inspired by jazz and improvisation, he hand-crafts all his work with simple tools.
