Bob Dylan has chronicled generations of American life. At nearly 80 years old, Dylan still has a lot more to say. His new album, “Rough and Rowdy Ways,” came out in late June. It was a surprise album, hinted at only by a 17-minute single about the assassination of JFK, which Dylan released in March.

KCRW music critic Eric J. Lawrence finds the new album to be one of the best releases of the year so far, and one of Dylan’s best of his 60-year career.
