The Midnight Mission, Affordable Housing, and the Border from the Other Side

Madeleine visits the Midnight Mission on Skid Row, which serves 3,000 meals a day to poor and homeless Angelenos. Unlike some cities, L.A. doesn’t have laws requiring developers to include affordable units in their rental projects. We look at the reasons behind it. In our weekly film wrap up, a peek at the latest Liam Neeson action flick; a “Hunger Games”-style dystopian sci-fi film; and “This is Where I Leave You,” starring Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, and Jane Fonda. And Madeleine talks to NPR’s Carrie Kahn about the latest on children crossing the border, which she has been covering all summer from her home in Mexico City.
