California Fires: How Much Will it Cost State and Economy?

Arnold Schwarzenegger said he opposed raising taxes, but declared -you can-t ever say never because-we could have a natural disaster.- The Governor-elect says it-s too early to say how he plans to pay all the bills, but admits they-re going to be staggering. The federal government and insurance companies will shoulder part of the burden, but there-s trouble ahead for a state already billions of dollars in the red and local agencies hard pressed to come up with enough revenue just to stay in business. We get an update on the fires, compare the costs of this week-s disaster to the Northridge earthquake and the fires that devastated Oakland 12 years ago.
