Former Top Brass Call for Rumsfeld's Resignation

A cluster of former military top brass is sharply criticizing Donald Rumsfeld--some even calling for his resignation, charging the Defense Secretary with arrogant leadership and poor military judgment in the Iraq War. President Bush responded with a strong statement defending Rumsfeld's character and performance. Several senior military officers, including Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Chairman Peter Pace, have backed the President in his assessment. Does this flurry of criticism throw doubt on the US strategy in Iraq? Is it against the military's code of behavior to question its leader during wartime? Is the criticism a direct questioning of the President's decisions in conducting this war? Guest host Diana Nyad speaks with defense experts, military analysts and military officers. (An extended version of this program originally aired earlier today on To the Point.) Reporter's Notebook: Some Illegal Immigrants Still Paying Taxes It's tax day and illegal immigrants are filing in record numbers. While undocumented wage-earners are not eligible for social security numbers, they are eligible for special identification numbers. Last year the IRS issued 1.2 million of these ID numbers, most of which ended up on tax returns. Anthropologist Leo Ch--vez says the immigrants' incentive is the chance to one day become American citizens.
