Governor Schwarzenegger and the State of the State
This afternoon, before a joint session of the State Legislature, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger outlined his vision for California, addressing again the state-s massive financial crisis. Promising again not to raise taxes or cut education, he outlined plans for a leaner, more efficient government. Responding immediately from the Democratic side, Senate President Pro Tem John Burton said he shares the Governor-s concern about fiscal crisis, but insisted that it can-t be solved without -added revenues.- We hear his speech and get Assembly reaction from Republican State Senators Tom McClintock and Democrat Betty Karnette, and political pros, including Lou Cannon, who covered Ronald Reagan as Governor of California.
