Guest Worker Programs and Immigration Reform

Hosted by
The US Senate took a vote yesterday on immigration reform, the first time either house has done that since 1996. The so called Ag JOBS Bill to create a new guest worker problem got 53 votes in the Senate, almost the 60 required to survive a filibuster, but the measure, supported by California Democrat Barbara Boxer, lost to opponents, including California Democrat Dianne Feinstein. Republicans were also divided, and President Bush wasn't involved. We get a progress report on one of America's most contentious issues from journalists in Washington, political scientists and immigration analysts.
