Hunger and Food Stamps

Hosted by
Despite record prosperity, food supplies for the needy are at record lows all over the US, and it's tougher than ever to get food stamps. California requires digital photographs, electronic fingerprints and answers to 21 pages of detailed questions. We ask representatives of local and national food banks, county and state social services how many are going hungry, and if fraud requirements prevent abuse or just keep food from hungry children.
  • Newsmaker: Florida and US Supreme Courts - The battle for the presidency has moved to the US Supreme Court. We get two opinions. Steve Sherman is a Democratic National Committee legal analyst and legal counsel for the White House. Michael Schroeder is the state co-chair for the Bush campaign and an attorney specializing in election and campaign finance law.
