Impeachment Hearings: Senator's Questions

The Impeachment trial... will it end with a bang or a whimper? Republican and Democratic Senators alternately submitted written questions, which Chief Justice William Rehnquist then read to the House Impeachment Managers or to President Clinton's defense team. But the big news was made by Robert Byrd of Virginia, a Democrat taken seriously by Senators of both parties. He said the necessary two-thirds vote for conviction just isn't there and that lengthening the trial by calling witnesses won't make any difference.
