Redistricting California

Hosted by
A serious fight is underway in Sacramento as Democrats wield their huge advantage in the Assembly and Senate to literally change the map of California. Redistricting, which incorporates 4.1 million residents the state gained in the 1990s, will create a new 53rd Congressional district, realign 80 Assembly districts and 40 Senate districts along "communities of interest." The often criticized, but totally legal, process is all but designed to keep incumbents of the majority party in office. We hear what to expect from a Democratic assemblyman and a Republican political consultant. (Managing editor Kyle McKinnon guest hosts.)
