Former two-term Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan is traveling through California talking energy in San Jose, water in Stockton, agriculture in Lodi, and bicycling across downtown Sacramento. He the focus of news reports that have President Bush pushing him to run in next year's Republican primary for governor. Yet the man who's formed exploratory and fundraising committees, maintains he's not yet a candidate. If Richard Riordan is running, what are his chances? • Newsmaker: Daughter of Former President Reagan Dies - Maureen Reagan died today of skin cancer at the age of 60. She was the eldest child of former President Ronald Reagan, a recent crusader for awareness of Melanoma and a national spokeswoman for the Alzheimer's Association. Lou Cannon, author of three books on President Reagan, offers a remembrance.
• Reporter's Notebook: Law Firm Embraces Campaign to Change the Story on Belmont - When Belmont Learning Complex was found to be sitting on toxins and explosive gas, construction on the high school stopped and the school board sued its long-time law firm for giving it bad advice. Now, the Los Angeles Daily Journal's Gina Keating says O'Melveney & Myers may have turned a malpractice suit into resurrection of the Belmont Complex.
